Dolly Parton, 68-year old American pop legend, has revealed that she’s an even greater women than we previously though. Having recently headlined Glastonbury Festival 2014 alongside the no-longer-so-hardore Metallica, Ms Parton has confirmed that she will gladly adopt a dog found among the tents following the departure of thousands of revellers.
Dolly the Dog, named in the singer’s honour, is a white lurcher and was discovered in an abandoned tent during the clean-up session. In a video message Parton has said that, should the attempts to find the dog’s owner prove unsuccessful, she will happily adopt that animal and welcome it into her home.
This is not the first animal to take it’s name from Dolly Parton. Back in 1996 Dolly the sheep became the first ever animal cloned from an adult cell. Frankly we’re not sure how flattering it is to be associated primarily with dogs and sheep… but you take what you can get.
The elderly Dolly the dog is currently being taken care of at the nearby Happy Landings animal shelter while the search for her owner continues. Parton has appealed several times for the owner to come forward but seems committed to honour her pledge and provide her namesake with a good home.
