Do you remember when you used to mess around with Play-doh or clay as a youngster, making whatever popped into your head? Those were good times, sadly as you get older and your awesome child’s imagination becomes more rigid it’s less appealing, and besides there’s real life to be getting on with. Behold! Sugru is the awesome big brother of Play-doh, giving you the freedom to make whatever you want and actually apply it to something awesomely useful.
First invented in 2003 by design student Jane ni Dhulchaointigh, Sugru is the makers best friend. It comes out of the pack feeling like plasticine, and can be moulded into any shape or used for literally anything including sealing pipes, protecting your phone, creating a moulded grip for tools and a hole host of nifty little life-hacks. The genius of Sugru is that after about half an hour it cures and becomes similar to a hard flexible rubber that bonds to pretty much anything.
Jane received a lot of attention for her product as soon as she began to market it. She produced, packaged the first 1000 packets with the help of friends over the course of a month. Unbelievable they sold out in six hours! Since then Sugru has been used to fix faulty car engines, hike to the North Pole and send a camera to space. It’s used on all seven continents to help people specially taylor their life every day.
Check out the video below in which the Sugru team create the world’s greatest water pistol. We can’t wait to get our hands on some of this stuff, the possibilities are endless!
