Prompted by ‘the human condition of having memories’, Angela Deane has been especially active with her Ghost Photographs project since 2012, where she takes mostly found photographs and paints over the human subjects in them as ghouls. As she said of the photographs, ‘Through this haunting of the material, the ghosts become us and we become the ghosts. We become the ghosts of our everyday.’ Way to hit home the point that memories, sometimes, are the only things that can help us make meaning of anything at all.
