It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, that shiny object flying through the Australian night sky was neither of those, not was it a meteor or UFO, contrary to popular belief spouted on social media around bed time last night on the Eastern seaboard of Australia.
The immediate thought that crossed everyone’s brain as they saw the fiery light last night around 10pm was of the extraterrestrial, but it wasn’t nearly as sexy or exciting as that, a leading Australian astronomer has told the ABC.
Dr Tanya Hill, curator of the Melbourne Planetarium, said that the object everyone was so curious was neither dangerous or that exciting really, just one of the hundreds of thousands of loose space waste orbiting Earth.
