Forget smashing windows, picking locks and jimmying doors – thanks to the rise of smarthome technology, soon burglars may be able to break into our houses via our lightbulbs.
Last week Melbourne startup LIFX, which makes WiFi enabled ‘smartbulbs’ that can be controlled by smartphone app, scored $12 million in venture capital funding, putting it on the fast track to becoming one of Australia’s major players in the burgeoning ‘internet of things’ industry.
But it seems its smartbulbs weren’t quite smart enough.
