Let’s take a minimalist look at mental disorders

Let’s take a minimalist look at mental disorders
Despite the efforts of media campaigns, help groups and healthcare there is still a stigma and an air of ignorance surrounding mental disorders. Graphic artist Patrick Smith has created a series of images that confronts this problem, through presenting each affliction in an abstract and minimalist way.
Smith is treading a fine line, these disorders are very real and people suffer from them on a daily basis. Anyone that tackles the subject at all is in danger of misunderstanding the inherently elusive nature of the conditions, let alone when they attempt to boil it down to a minimalist representation.
Despite this risk, Smith’s series captures the singular essence of the disorders such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Narcolepsy and Asperger syndrome in refreshingly simple quality.
