In Brazil, it is legal to spray the outside of anyone’s house with graffiti as long as there is permission obtained from the owner. But we sincerely hope this is not going to encourage you if you can’t differentiate between graffiti as art and graffiti as vandalism.
With the advent of possibly the world’s biggest sporting event, the World Cup, street artists across the Brazilian cities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo have been feverishly expressing themselves through quite a bit of spray paint.
While some of the well-illustrated graffiti stand loud and proud about Brazil and her soccer team, quite a few tell a different story of protest towards the government for spending massive amounts of money to host the games while many Brazilians still struggle to make ends meet.
Whatever the reasons for and against the hosting of the games, these graffiti will surely make a walk across the cities a most colorful and memorable experience.
