French wines and the Wooing Tree: a tour of New Zealand’s vineyards
You say wine, we think France! Until New Zealand came along that is… Now you can get the very best of both with Funky French Cars. The company has been set up to allow visitors to explore the vineyards of the Central Otago region in a classic French car.
On a recent trip to New Zealand, Funky French cars offered Lost At E Minor a personalised tour packed with local knowledge of the Central Otago wine region. Our favourite story involved a renowned vineyard full of famous Pinot Noirs, The Wooing Tree.
The Wooing Tree vineyard is suitably named after a large tree nearby that has long been a popular place for locals to “woo their lovers”. When the new owners tried to remove the tree there was uproar from the community who said that it had to be left alone. There are even stories of people being conceived under the tree! You will be glad to know that the tree was saved and still sits proudly in the middle of the vineyard.
