We think this is worth your while, so bend your knee and lend your ear. Introducing MAFIA Bags, a new business out of South America started by Argentinian siblings Marcos and Paz Mafia.
CEO and co-founder of MAFIA Bags Marcos Mafia is an accomplished kite-surfer, spending huge amounts of time on the water since he was a child. When he came to start the business, he was inspired by a need to give something back to the ocean in return for the enjoyment it had provided him. As a result they began to source and repurpose wind-surfing, kite-surfing and sail-boat sail canvases. The materials are hand-cut, stitched and remade into tote-bags, handbags, backpacks and travel bags (to mention a few), each one utterly unique.
The customers of MAFIA Bags are not just choosing a distinct style and ensuring that they’re sporting a bag unlike any other, they are also championing an essential attitude of social responsibility. This is something that the Mafia’s hold close to the heart of their business.
Despite being still in their early 20s the brother and sister have already achieved much with their brand, producing their one-of-a-kind bags in Buenos Aries and exporting them across the continent to Uruguay, Peru, Brazil and Chile. Recently they announced their expansion into North America and a new production base in San Francisco.
As part of their growth they have started a month-long Kickstarter campaign, encouraging potential customers to gain early access to their range of products while also contributing to the brands creative capital.
The perfect product for an environmentally and socially conscious individual who wants a unique product with tell-tale marks from it’s previous life on the sea, we’re hard pressed to think why we wouldn’t want a MAFIA Bag.
