Joan Fontcuberta, as The Guardian informs us, is ‘a photojournalist who fakes miracles, a terrible photographer who’s won one of the profession’s top prizes, a “bullshitter” who loves the truth’.
In his past project Fauna, Fontcuberta makes claim to finding the lost archives of the equally questionable German zoologist, Dr Peter Ameisenhaufen, who, before his mysterious disappearance in 1955, catalogued unusual animals such as the cute snake-like Solenoglypha polipodida that comes with 6 pairs of legs. It’s a hoax of course, along with many others staged.
